Why PNG instead of JPG

PNG is lossless, so the photo does not degrade when you keep editing it — useful as a source for design work or background removal. The file is typically 3–10× larger than a JPG; for simple sharing, HEIC to JPG is lighter. Live Photos keep only the still image.
